Hello! I’m Dr. Trang Vu, a double board-certified dermatologist and scientist. I’ve always had a fascination with science growing up. My initial plan was to be a bench scientist. I was inspired by my mentor Dr. Jeffrey Weitz to become a physician-scientist instead. You know that feeling when you fall for someone? In my case, I fell for the profession of medicine, so I packed my bags and moved to Toronto to start medical school. After working with many different physicians, I realized I wanted to be a skinternist. What’s not to love about dermatology? It’s a visual field with thousands of medical diagnosis including complex cases. I also enjoyed the hands on nature of the work and was inspired by the many breakthrough medicines emerging in the field. I matched to my residency of choice and moved again to Alberta. Along the way, I got married, had a baby and developed some great friendships. Nine years after starting medical school, I can proudly say I am a board certified dermatologist working in Edmonton, Alberta.
